Patrick Ky
Executive Director - EASA
Patrick Ky is the Executive Director of EASA. Since 2013 his mission is to further consolidate the role and responsibilities of the Agency and to make the European aviation regulatory system a reliable framework. Before EASA, he was in charge of the SESAR program. He also held various positions in the French Civil Aviation Authority, Eurocontrol, European Commission. He has over 20 years of experience in Civil Aviation. Graduated at Civil Aviation Engineering School in France, he holds degrees in economics from the University of Toulouse and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Luc Tytgat
Strategy and Safety Management Director - EASA
Luc Tytgat is since 1st January 2015 Director of the Strategy and Safety Management Directorate of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Luc Tytgat has a significant experience when dealing with matters related to the European Commission amongst others, air transport, Single Sky, and space domains. In this regard, he was responsible for the Single European Sky regulatory package (SESAR), which led to the creation of the European Network Manager and an economic regulator function for ATM. He also initiated the GALILEO programme and established the EU competence in the space policy sector. Having spent ten years in the Belgian Air Force, he was more recently director at EUROCONTROL for the implementation of the Single European Sky.

Erick Ferrandez
Head of safety Intelligence Department - EASA
Aeronautical engineer by education, Erick spent 14 years of his career in the industry in the Flight Operations domain before joining EASA. He gained his operational experience from both a manufacturer perspective working for the Airbus Flight Operations Division and from an operator perspective as he worked for the US Airways Operational Control Centre in the USA.
Erick has been working for EASA since 2006 where he was initially in charge of developing and managing the EASA International Technical Cooperation programmes for 8 years.
He is currently the Head of the Safety Intelligence and Performance Department at EASA. This department is in charge of, inter alia, the production of the Annual Safety Review (ASR), the EASA Safety Risk Portfolios, the Security and Cybersecurity risks impacting safety, coordinating the Agency involvement in the safety investigations and managing the EASA Safety Promotion activities.
As a key part of the department objectives is to provide reliable safety intelligence, Erick is the programme manager of Data4Safety, the European Big Data programme for aviation safety.

Giancarlo Buono
Regional Director Safety & Flight Operations Europe, EUR-Regional Safety and Flight Operations - IATA
Capt. Giancarlo BUONO is the Director Safety and Flight Operations for Europe at the International Air Transport Association (IATA), based in Brussels, Belgium. In this function he is responsible for the delivery of IATA Safety and Flight Operations Strategy in Europe and for the liaison with European Regulators, the EC and EASA on issues relating to air transport Safety and Flight Operations.
In his function, he is the Industry representative in the EASA Management Board and represents the Airspace Users community in the EUROCONTROL Provisional Council and the SESAR Joint Undertaking Administrative Board.
His professional expertise consists of extensive flight operations and quality-safety management experiences. With 30 years of experience in the Air Forces and Airline industry he is currently qualified as a Captain on the Airbus A-320 family. He holds a Master Science Degree in “Air Transport Management“ from London City University and has been involved in a number of international Safety and Quality developments programs.
He is qualified as an Accident Investigator and as an IATA and ISO Quality and Safety Auditor. He has received formal training in Human Factors and Crisis Communication.
Capt. BUONO is visiting professor in Airline Regulatory Compliance at London City University and in Safety Management at Geneva University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Yannick Malinge
Senior Vice President, Chief Product Safety Officer - Airbus
Graduated Aeronautical Engineer in 1986 from ENAC, the French Civil Aviation School, Yannick MALINGE joined Airbus in November 1987 as Cockpit / Avionic Engineer
In charge of cockpit/avionic/flight instrument systems, he was also the Chairman of several working groups with A330/A340 launching customers.
He joined the Flight Safety department in 1993 as Deputy Vice President Flight Safety.
He led various accidents/major incidents investigations and represented Airbus in International meetings such as IATA SAC.
In 1998 he joined the Flight Test Division as Head of Airbus Flight Test Technical Coordination Team during the A340-500/-600 and A319 corporate jet flight test campaigns.
Before taking over the Flight Safety Dept, he was Director Product Safety Process, in charge of reviewing the Airbus internal safety process.
In November 2003, he joined the Flight Safety department as Vice-President Flight Safety, with two main areas of focus: accident/major incidents investigation and accident prevention.
Since 1st October 2010, he has been appointed SVP & Chief Product Safety Officer.
Marc Houalla
Deputy Executive Director - ADP Group, CDG Airport
Marc Houalla is currently holding the position of Deputy Executive Director of the Groupe ADP and Managing director of Paris Charles De Gaulle. He has thirty-five years of aviation experience and have served in various technical, operational and leadership positions: Aircraft maintenance Director, Finance director, Aviation economic consultant, ATM service Director, President of the European largest aviation university, Marseilles and Paris Orly airports directors. He is also a board of directors member of SDA – Airport retail company and Media Aéroport de Paris.
Tanja Harter
Technical Affairs Board Director - European Cockpit Association
She currently holds the position of Board Director Technical Affairs for ECA-European Cockpit Association, and in that function is also a member of the EASA SAB, EASA D4S Steering board, EASA FS TECH and the EASA Return to normal Operations (RNO) Task Force.
Within ECA she has taken the leading role in the development of ECAs Future of the Pilot Profession Project and is overseeing ECAs Training Licensing and Operations (TLO) and Flight Data (FD) working groups.
As Chair of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots‘ Associations (IFALPA) Human Performance Committee, Capt. Harter is responsible for all training & licensing, human factor and medical issues within IFALPA. In the area of training, she has taken a leading role in the IFALPA MPL workshop as well as the development of the ECA Pilot Training Compass.
Following her studies in electronic engineering at the University of Technology in Munich Capt. Harter flew the B737 and B747 as FO & SFO and currently flies the A320 family as a Captain.
She is an active CRM Instructor as well as an accredited Business & Management Coach.
She was and is actively involved in numerous international working groups and initiatives on behalf of ECA and IFALPA as the IWG (ICAO Doc 9625) Development of EBT, the Development of the Co-Branded (IATA/ICAO/IFALPA) MPL Implementation Guide, ED 2, the EASA MPL Advisory Board and is the IFALPA Representative to the ICAO NGAP.
Iacopo Prissinotti
Director of the Network Management - EUROCONTROL
With over 30 years of experience in ATM, Iacopo has occupied a series of senior leadership roles in strategic, technical and operational roles. Starting his career with the Italian air force, Iacopo joined ENAV, the Italian air navigation service provider, in 1988, progressing through a series of managerial roles, finally leading the International Strategies division between 2011 and 2019, before being appointed Director NM in EUROCONTROL in July 2019

Bert Bonke
D4S Technical Board Co-Chair - European Cockpit Association
Captain Bonke has been active as an airline pilot since 1987 on various aircraft types, currently as Captain and route instructor on B777 and B787 for a major Dutch airline.
Since 2002 he has been involved in accident and incident investigation as a flight data expert for the Accident Investigation Group of Dutch ALPA and since 2012 for the European Cockpit Association in their Flight Data Working Group. He became chairman of that group in 2016 , as such, he is now actively involved in the Data4Safety programme as co-chairman of the programmes technical board. His involvement in the programme stretches back to the very start of the programme and actually even before that to the feasibility study in 2015.
Joachim Lücking
Head of Unit for Aviation Safety - European Commission
Joachim Lücking has been Head of Unit for Aviation Safety in the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission since November 2016. He is responsible for implementing and developing European aviation safety policy, including oversight of EASA, as well as the Commission's international activities in the area.
Joachim joined the European Commission in 1995, and held a number of management positions in the Competition Directorate-General before joining DG MOVE.
Prior to joining the Commission, Joachim worked as an academic and in industry. He holds degrees in business administration and economics from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and from Wayne State University, Detroit.
Jim Pegram
Director of Safety, Security and Compliance - Easyjet
Captain Jim Pegram has over 40 years’ experience as an operator, trainer and manager in flight and cabin crew operations, crew training and operations control. He is currently easyJet’s Director of Safety, Security and Compliance. The role covers operational safety, occupational safety, security and compliance.
Jim joined easyJet in 1997 as part of the leadership team to establish easyJet’s AOC and as a senior manager has had key responsibilities for the Introduction of the Boeing 737NG, Airbus 319, Advanced Training Qualification Program (ATQP) and Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO). He has endured 3 regulatory changes and Integrated 3 Airlines.
As a pilot he has flown diverse types such as the Vickers Viscount, Boeing 737, Airbus A320, Bell 47, Bell 206, AS332L Super Puma, sailplanes and enjoys flying his microlight at the weekends. He also has extensive training experience as a type rating Instructor, examiner and revalidation examiner.
In his present role, he has brought his considerable experience to the development of easyJet's Integrated Safety, Security and Compliance Management System programme and worked closely with National Competent Authorities, European Aviation Safety Agency and various Government departments and agencies.
Leopold Viroles
Data4Safety Lead Analyst - EASA
Léopold Viroles is the Lead Analyst of the Data4Safety Programme (D4S) and the Co-Chair of the D4S Technical Board for EASA since March 2017.
In his function, Léopold oversees the operational management of the Data4Safety Programme. He organizes the required capacities and ensures the coordination of all the technical activities of the Programme e.g. the sharing by the Programme Members of their aviation safety data, the set-up of the D4S big data platform, the organization of the collaborative work of the aviation experts together with the data scientists for the implementation of the agreed analytics on the D4S platform. All of this in a highly secured, protected and controlled environment for the D4S Members and their data.
Prior to joining the EASA as a flight data expert, Léopold Viroles worked within the Safran Group as a Flight Operation Engineer and Project Leader. He is a graduate from the French Air Force Academy “Ecole de l’Air” where he was trained as an Officer, Pilot and as an Aeronautical and Aerospace engineer.
Patrick Cipriani
Director Safety Oversight - DGAC France
Patrick Cipriani has spent his whole career in the civil aviation sector.
After some years managing Air Traffic Control systems development projects, he joins the engineering company Sofreavia (now EGIS AVIA) to develop consultancy activities on European markets. He became CEO several years later, then Chairman in 2001. He impulsed major changes within the company which resulted in its integration in the engineering group EGIS in 2006.
He then joined the French DGAC in the field of safety, in the position of deputy oversight director, where he was in particular in charge of setting up the new nation-wide organisation for safety oversight.
He became in 2009 regional director for the Paris and North of France area.
Since June 2014, as Director for Safety, he is managing the French National Authority for aviation safety. He is also the French representative to the EASA Management Board.
Patrick Cipriani is graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and from the Ecole nationale de l’aviation Civile – ENAC – in Toulouse. He is also a private pilot.
Aidan Murray
Chief Pilot, Ryanair
Captain Murray has over 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry. He has spent the last 26 years in Ryanair and is an instructor on the Boeing 737.
Aidan has held several management roles in Ryanair. He has been involved in many projects including the change over from paper to electronic charting including the introduction of the paperless flight deck. He fully supports the use of data to enhance safety, which includes Ryanair’s recent collaboration with CEFA Aviation and the roll out of the video playback App to all pilots in the Ryanair Group. Aidan has held the position of Chief Pilot Ryanair DAC since April 2020.

Adam Borkowski
Aviation Security & Intelligence Expert - EASA
Adam joined EASA in January 2020 as Aviation Security and Intelligence Expert.
He has more than 15 years of governmental and security experience. Adam started his adventure with civil aviation in 2003 when he joined the Civil Aviation Authority of Poland. Until 2014 he worked for the Polish CAA in different security-related roles as specialist, aviation security auditor, head of section and Director of the Aviation Security Department. From 2014 to 2019 he worked for ECAC as Aviation Security Audit and Capacity Building Officer providing support in the field of aviation security to 44 ECAC Member States.
He graduated from Sorbonne University in Paris with a degree in political science with specialization in international relations. He then continued his studies in Poland and acquired a postgraduate degree at the National Academy of Defense in the field of aviation management as well as one from the Military Technical Academy in the field of technical security of persons and goods.
John Monks
Director of Safety and Security - British Airways
Captain John Monks has completed 30 years in aviation and has combined flying and management roles for the last 20 years. Previous management roles have included pilot recruitment, training, development of pilot training strategy and aviation safety, risk and compliance. As ‘Director of Safety and Security’ at British Airways he has accountability for all the organisation’s Management System for Operational and Occupational Safety and all elements of Security. John’s remit also now includes Continuing Airworthiness.
John’s roles have included working collaboratively with industry agencies and regulators on varied subjects from ‘Volcanic Ash to ‘Aircraft Tracking’. He is a current member of European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Stakeholder Advisory Board and a member of the IATA Safety, Flight and Ground Operations Advisory Council (SFGOAC), previously holding the Vice Chair role at IATA’s Safety Group. He also acts as a ‘Specialist Advisor’ to the NATS Safety Review Committee, whose role is to monitor and review the effectiveness of safety performance for the NATS Board the UKs leading ATC service provider.
Francesco Di Maio
Head of Corporate Security Department - ENAV
54, Graduated in Law, PhD in Civil Law, master High Defense Studies at Italian DoD, has a solid 16 years experience as a Law Enforcement officer, specialized in criminal investigations, drug enforcement and intelligence. Since 2004 he is the Corporate Security Officer and Security Post-Holder in ENAV, the Italian Air Navigation Service Provider. He works mainly for a methodological approach to integrated Security Management System for air navigation services. Relevant his interest in investigating relationship amongst Information Security, Physical Security and human factors in the complexity of Aviation scenario. ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer, ISACA CISA CISM CRISC, EC-COUNCIL C|CISO, System ICAO Aviation Security Professional Manager certified (2006), ECAC certified Aviation Security Manager (2009), AVSEC Security Instructor (2011) and ICAO National Inspector (2012),. Serving in several international working groups as a national rep and on behalf of CANSO, particularly ICAO, NATO, European Commission bodies, EASA ESCP.
Piotr Samson
Director General - CAA Poland
President of the Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Piotr Samson is a manager and air transport expert with over 25 years of professional experience. He completed the full-time MBA at the Cranfield University, United Kingdom (1994-1995). He also graduated from the Warsaw University of Technology – Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management (1989-1994).
In 2016 he was appointed President of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). He is responsible for the civil aviation oversight. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Samson worked at LOT Polish Airlines and contributed to the establishment of two airlines in Poland: ENTER AIR and BINGO AIRWAYS.
In 2019 he was appointed Chair of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) Management Board and holds the position of Vice-President of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation’s (EUROCONTROL) Provisional Council. Since May 2020 he has also been a member of the European Civil Aviation Conference’s (ECAC) Coordinating Committee.
Tarald Johansen
Director Safety, Security, Health, Contingency & Quality - Avinor Group
Tarald Johansen, presently Director Safety, Securiy, Health, Contingency & Quality for the Avinor Group, which owns and operates 44 airports throughout Norway.
He has more than 30 years of experience from Civil Aviation. As a lawyer from the University of Oslo he was heading the company’s Legal Affairs department for 10 years before he was appointed to head the company’s Safety & Security department as both Safety and Security Manager.
He has completed studies at The Norwegian Defence University College, as well as degrees in Quality Management and as an Audit Manager.
He manages the relationship with governmental and legislative bodies on both national and international levels, and has been Avinor's representative in industry associations such as the ACI EUROPE Technical and Operational Safety Committee and ACI Europe Aviation Security Committee. He is also a member of European Air Law Association (EALA).
Rowan Powel

As an experienced safety analyst, Rowan has not only analysed data on a range of aviation safety topics, but is also the editor of the EASA Annual Safety Review. In 2020, she spent much of her time on the COVID-19 safety risk portfolio, working with EASA’s safety partners to identify the aviation safety risks emerging as a consequence of the pandemic.
Rowan holds a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Bristol and an MSc from Cranfield University.

Rowan Powel

Svetlana Bunjevac
Human performance in ATM Senior Expert - EUROCONTROL
Svetlana Ceca Bunjevac is motivated by the close interaction and critical dependencies between human performance and the performance of ground equipment and the one on board an aircraft. By the necessity of continuous development and alignment of all three. Particularly interested in the human factor, in minimizing the impact of teamwork related errors and in finding out what exactly makes things go right in the daily ATM ops.
Before joining the Institute of Air Navigation Services, Ceca was aerodrome, terminal and en-route air traffic controller, OJTI, competency assessment and training manager.
Currently she is EUROCONTROL Human Performance domain training manager, competence and training development, design and delivery expert and EUROCONTROL TRM (Team Resource Management) programme coordinator.
Ceca is a lifelong student of automation and human factors, wife and a mom in a family of boys; boating and cooking enthusiast.
She was trained in Skopje, Prague, Belgrade, Langen, Sofia and Bath.
Kathy Abbott
Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Flight Deck Human Factors - FAA
Kathy Abbott, PhD, FRAeS, serves as the Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Flight Deck Human Factors to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on human performance and human error, equipment design, and flight crew training, operations and procedures. Dr. Abbott has led the integration of human factors into FAA/international regulatory material. She serves as the FAA liaison to industry and other government and international agencies dealing with human factors.
Gunnar Steinhardt
Senior Manager Human Factors - Cargolux
Gunnar Steinhardt is an accredited Aviation Psychologist and Human Factors Manager at Cargolux Airlines International, where he focuses on topics such as pilot selection and the development of a Pilot Support Program. As a Psychologist, he also provides coaching and counselling for crews, and works closely together with the operator's Crew Training and Aviation Safety departments to support the effective integration of HF Strategies into Flight Operations.
Gunnar is a member of the Human Factors Collaborative Analysis Group (HF CAG) and chairs the Operations & Training Focus Group to support HF matters at the European Aviation Safety Agency. Most recently, Gunnar was involved in the Rule Making Task (RMT) .0411 Crew Resource Management Training and RMT.0700 Aircrew Medical Fitness, implementing the recommendations made by the EASA-led Germanwings Task Force following the accident of the Germanwings Flight 9525.
Gunnar is a board member and Secretary General of the European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP), a board member of the European Pilot Peer Support Initiative (EPPSI), a member of the ICAO Mental Health Working Group, and holds a private pilot license.
Thomas Leoff
Chairman - IAAPS
Thomas Leoff is the chair of the International Association of Aviation personnel schools (IAAPS) and Manager Training Standards within Lufthansa Aviation Training. He has been in the aviation training business since 1991 and is a recognized expert in day-to-day practical training management as well as in the field of developing the future training environment. Since 2014, he is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
He is a member of the EASA´s Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB) and in this function an industry observer in the EASA Management Board´s PAR group (Programming and Resources Advisory Group)
He is the chair of EASA´s Flight Standards Technical Committee (FS.TEC) and a member of the Aircrew Training Policy Group (ATPG), an FS.TEC sub-group. He is also a member of EASA´s Commercial Aeroplane Safety Committee (CAS.COM).
Nicklas Dahlstrom

Dr Nicklas Dahlstrom is Human Factors Manager at Emirates Airline and has been with the airline since 2007. In this position he has overseen CRM training in an expanding airline with global reach and worked with integration of Human Factors across the organisation. Florent Morel
Domain Safety Risk Manager - EASA
Florent has been working for 3 years in the Safety Risk Management team of EASA. He joined the agency in 2017 through the Junior Qualification Programme, an integrated traineeship for young aviation professionals.
Being now Domain Safety Risk Manager for 2 years, Florent is in charge of the safety analysis activities for the rotorcraft domain, he’s actively contributing to the European Network of Aviation Safety Analysts and is involved as well in the Data4Safety Programme.
Florent has a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the French school ENSMA. Alexander Schwaßmann
Senior Expert Safety Management and ATCO - Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS)
Alexander Schwassmann has been working as a DFS tower, approach, and TMA controller at Duesseldorf airport and Langen ACC for more than 26 years. He additionally took on the role of part-time Safety Management Expert in the Langen ACC Safety and Performance Controlling department in 2008.
Alexander Schwassmann was a member of local operational expert teams that worked for DFS on the implementation of the EAM 04 airspace redesign initiative in 1998, and the redesign of the Duesseldorf TMA in 2006.
Alexander holds private pilot licenses for gliders and piston aircraft as well as the post of honorary Aviation Supervisory Offical at his local aerodrome. He is married and has two children.

Captain Bonke has been active as an airline pilot since 1987 on various aircraft types, currently as Captain and route instructor on B777 and B787 for a major Dutch airline.
Since 2002 he has been involved in accident and incident investigation as a flight data expert for the Accident Investigation Group of Dutch ALPA and since 2012 for the European Cockpit Association in their Flight Data Working Group. Christopher is part of the Avionics Systems Experts team within the Certification Directorate (Large Transport Aircraft) that is responsible for initial and continued airworthiness. Before coming to EASA in 2012, Christopher worked in the aerospace industry for a large avionics supplier. He was part of the advanced technology team responsible for creating new avionics concepts and flight deck applications for business and transport category aircraft. During his time in industry, Christopher was also a member of the global product development teams that helped transform those ideas into viable products for the aviation market. Later, as part of a small but innovative research group, Christopher contributed to the development of practical tools to ensure that human factors considerations were adequately addressed during the design and certification of avionics systems. From 2012-2015, Christopher served as the EUROCAE WG-94 Chairperson. The working group was tasked with exploring the feasibility of developing a EUROCAE standard for a Take Off Performance Monitoring (TOPM) System.

Martin Nijhof, BSc, is currently employed by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and works as a Flight Safety Investigator since 2001. His tasking includes investigating flight operational incidents and accidents, and identifying and investigating flight safety trends.
His specialist fields include human factors, design, data analysis, and organizational aspects surrounding incidents and accidents. He led several incident investigations involving erroneous takeoff data. The recommendations successfully addressed the problem of weight related erroneous takeoff data.
He is co-author of the paper titled “Take-Off performance incidents: do we need to accept them or can we avoid them?” presented at the 2019 conference of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators held in The Hague. The paper proposes a gross error takeoff performance alerting function.
Before joining the KLM Flight Safety Team in 2001, he worked as a Ground School Simulator Instructor for the Boeing 737 division of KLM’s Flight Crew Training Centre.

Renee Pelchen-Medwed
ATM/ANS, Human Factors Expert - EASA
Renée, an Austrian national is professionally involved in aviation for almost 20 years. She studied Psychology in Graz, Austria and worked at the university on different projects in collaboration with Austro Control before she joined Eurocontrol in 2003. In EUROCONTROL she worked first in Budapest, Hungary in the Central European Air Traffic Service (CEATS) - simulation centre. She planned the validation exercises and performed human factors and safety assessment. In 2010 she moved to the Eurocontrol headquarters in Brussels and started to work in the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) project. She contributed to the development of the SESAR human performance assessment process and led Eurocontrol’s human factors support for various SESAR projects. Since 2020 Renée is seconded to EASA. There she works in the air traffic management department as well as in the safety risk management section. Amongst others she is tasked with human factor related actions in the remote tower rule making group and is the domain safety risk manager for ATM/ANS.
Since 2018 Renée is a board member of the European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP) where she holds the position of accreditation manager.
Michel Rocca

Michel Rocca was elected as Vice-President of Europe Air Sports (EAS) in April 2014 and re-elected since then.

Philipp Wächter
Safety Manager - Austro Control
Philipp Wächter became Safety and Occurrence Manager of the Austrian ANSP, Austro Control, on 1 February 2018. He is passionate about improving aviation safety on an international level by exchanging experiences, sharing best practices and developing new methods and guidelines. Therefore, he is participating in several international working groups and projects and is acting as the CANSO Europe champion on GRF.
Philipp started working for Austro Control in 2001, while he was studying at the university of economics and business administration in Vienna. Vladimir Foltin

Vladimir (Slovak national) is professionally involved in aviation for more than 25 years. He had joined the Agency in 2011 after years of working for Air Navigation Services in Slovakia. There he had occupied several technical, operational, or managerial positions. He started his career in the technical support of the aeronautical information service and later worked as an en-route air traffic controller and instructor. In parallel he was leading various development projects mostly related to ATM operations, airspace, or design of air routes. He concluded the industry experience as the senior management representative responsible for safety management.
Vladimir currently works in the General Aviation (GA) department of EASA certification. In his current role he usually manages the GA aircraft certification projects or contributes to other projects with his ATM expertise. Prior to that he had used to lead the Agency's standardisation inspections in the field of ATM or supported other air-development activities in ATM. In 2016 he had been seconded to the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council where he chaired the Council’s working group for aviation.
Vladimir is holder of commercial pilot and sailplane pilot licences with instructor privileges. As a passionate aviator he still flies regularly be it for leisure or more usually at gliding competitions, which, if not flying himself, he likes to organise together with his friends in Aeroklub Nitra. The remaining spare time he spends with family or volunteering as the secretary of the FAI's Gliding Commission (IGC).
Magnus McCabe

Magnus is the Manager Safety Oversight in the corporate Safety Services team at NATS, the UK’s largest Air Navigation Service Provider. He represents NATS as a safety domain technical expert with external stakeholders including ICAO, EASA, CANSO, UK CAA, and EUROCONTROL.
Magnus has over 30 years of experience in ATM, which includes 15 years in operational ATC roles, ATC incident investigation, Human Factors, Safety Culture, Safety Management Systems, Safety Assurance, ATC training delivery, and operational ATC procedures management.
He has enjoyed wide-ranging involvement in European and global aviation safety working groups and has considerable experience working with and advising aviation and non-aviation organisations – including healthcare trusts, hospitals, and the nuclear and oil industries – on Safety Management, Safety Culture, Just Culture, and Incident Investigation.
He represents CANSO in his role as co-chair of both the EASA ATM/ANS CAG and the EAPAIRR* Working Group.

Andrej Kolar started the company Naviter over 20 years ago on top of his passion for the sport of gliding. As students, together with two colleagues, they built the SeeYou software which helps soaring pilots navigate in the air and learn from their mistakes on the ground. Naviter later diversified its products into the sport of paragliding and hang-gliding. They became a household name in manufacturing top-class navigation devices and variometers, acquiring the pioneering brand Flytec on the way.

Felix Gottwald
ATM expert - European Cockpit Association
Felix Gottwald is an active airline pilot working for a major European operator. Besides that, he is also an expert on ATM and UAS for the International Federation of Air Line Pilot’s Associations (IFALPA) and the European Cockpit Association (ECA).
After flying Airbus A320-family aircraft for a few years, Felix Gottwald has been flying intercontinentally on McDonnell Douglas MD-11F aircraft for a decade. He also flies Cessna 172s commercially and therefore has plenty of experience in various operating environments, ranging from uncontrolled airfields to major international hubs.
Felix Gottwald is a member of the ICAO Separation and Airspace Safety Panel and ICAO UAS Advisory Group and has participated in several ATM- and UAS-related SESAR projects over the years. Furthermore, he is also the liaison pilot to IFATCA. He is an expert in the process of airspace design, flight procedures and the underlying safety risk management.
Jani Hottola

Jani Hottola is the general aviation coordinator for the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, Traficom. Jani is a member of the EASA General Aviation Task Force, the co-chair of the EASA General Aviation TeB and the Flight Crew Licensing & Training Partnership Group committee member. He is a Flight Examiner (FE/CRE/IRE/Senior) and responsible for all the Flight Examination activities at the Traficom. Guillaume Aigoin
Senior Flight Data Expert - EASA
Guillaume Aigoin has 19 years of experience in aviation safety, specifically in the fields of flight recorders, flight data monitoring (FDM) and means to locate aircraft in distress. After obtaining two master’s degrees in 2001 (in Aeronautics and in Automatics), Guillaume joined the French safety investigation authority (BEA) where he specialised on flight data recorders and radar data.
In 2009, Guillaume changed for the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). He set up the FDM promotion activities (EOFDM and EAFDM) in 2011 and (co-)organised five FDM promotion conferences. As a Senior Expert, Guillaume has led several rulemaking tasks and he has been representing EASA in ICAO and industry standardisation working groups that deal with FDM, flight recorders, aircraft tracking and locating aircraft in distress.
Leopold Sartorius

After graduating in 2002 from an aeronautical engineering school in Toulouse, Léopold joined the BEA (French air accident investigation board) where he worked as a technical investigator, and then led the Flight recorders and systems division. Rudy Pont
Co-chairman Flight Data Working group - European Cockpit Association
Rudy is a Belgian national, A320 captain and co-chair of the European Cockpit Association’s (ECA) Flight Data Working group. Having a background in electro-mechanical engineering and IT, he has over 14 years of aviation safety experience. His motto is “people are safety!”
This explains his strong beliefs about Just Culture, Safety-II and Human Factors. It’s also the reason why he is an active member of the EUROCONTROL Just Culture Task Force. Rudy is the IFALPA director for Belgium, recently graduated as an MSc in Air Safety Management at City University of London and currently pursues another MSc in Safety Sciences at the University of Antwerp.

Helder Mendes
Flight Data Expert - EASA
Helder Mendes has entered the aviation industry in 1992 working as an Avionics Engineer on aircraft maintenance in one major operator from Europe. Here, he also was the technical responsible for a period of time for two flight simulators from Airbus fleet. Since the early days he was involved with flight data recording systems, first through the maintenance of flight recorders and aircraft dataframes customization, and subsequently fully involved in the Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) process.
In 2016 Helder joined EASA as a Flight Data Expert and started immediately working on safety promotion of the best practices regarding the use of FDM by the operators, specifically through the work developed by the working group B of the European Operators Flight Data Monitoring (EOFDM) forum. He is currently the focal point for this working group in EASA."

Monica Fiumana Martin Falcon has been working in Embraer Flight Safety since 2001. She was responsible for development of systems and several safety risk assessments. During the last 10 years, she has been working as a flight data analyst, analyzing customers flights to improve the safety of Embraer aircraft. Christoph Hera

Christoph, a graduate of the Technical University of Munich and now part of the Cargolux Aviation Safety Team is responsible for the data integration within the Safety Department. Additionally, he is supporting the Emergency Response Team, for which he set up a database and visualizations of pandemic data related to layover stations to enable Cargolux to make data-informed decisions. In this context he developed a software to quickly identify aircrew who were in contact with a COVID positive pilot.
He is finalizing his work on the analysis and visualization of roster stability. This project aims to understand the magnitude and effects of changes within a roster period.
Serdar Şahin
SMS Specialist - Corendon Airlines
Serdar Sahin studied Aeronautical Engineering and started his professional career in 2016 in the field of flight safety of airline operations. He has been working in Corendon Airlines as a safety management specialist and flight data analyst since June 2019. He is responsible of conducting trend analysis, writing FOQA reports and investigating safety related FDM events. He is also interested in producing flight simulation videos based on real flight parameters for the purpose of safety promotion.

Apostolos Batategas
Senior Safety Data Manager - EASA
He has a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and he specialised in aerostructures design and analysis.
He began his career in 1997 working as an aeronautical engineer at the Hellenic Aerospace Industry, working mainly as a structures engineer and was also involved in EU funded research projects on design and analysis of composite material structures.
In 2000, he moved on to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority where he was involved in various tasks in the Flight Standards Department but mainly as an organisations’ approvals officer and airworthiness inspector.
In 2013 he joined EASA as a Seconded National Expert in the Investigation & Reporting Section where he was tasked in managing accident & serious incident investigations.
In 2016 he accepted a position at EASA as an occurrence reporting officer and he is currently the senior safety data manager in the Safety Data section of the Safety Intelligence & Performance Department.
Bjorn Vanden Eynde
Belgian Trade Union Officer - European Transport Workers’ Federation
Bjorn Vanden Eynde has been active in groundhandling and in aviation since 1995.
His career started working as a student in different departments at Aviapartner Belgium.
He worked for Aviapartner for 11 years in the Customer Service Department before transferring to ACV, the largest Belgian Trade Union.
He was an elected member in the Health and Safety Committée, as well as a shop steward and member of the Works Council at Aviapartner.
In 2013 he was hired by ACV Transcom as a Regional Union Officer, organising workers in aviation at Brussels Airport, Ostend/Bruges Airport, Antwerp Airport and Liège Airport.
ACV Transcom represents workers in airlines, airport operators ATM and groundhandling.
Bjorn is an active member of the Ground Handling Committée within the European Transportworkers’ Federation (ETF) since 2008.
In 2018 he was mandated by the ETF to be its representative in the Groundhandling Focus Group at EASA.
Julia Behrend
Head of Safety Innovation & Human Cooperation - Air France
Julia Behrend is a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience and the Head of Safety Innovation & Human Cooperation at Air France. By providing methods and techniques of scientific research, her current role is to ensure an up-to-date understanding of human factors implied in flight safety.
Dr. Behrend completed her doctoral dissertation in collaboration with Air France, investigating how personality, habits, hierarchy, and role influenced pilot decision-making under uncertainty.
In particular, she aims to apply findings from cognitive neuroscience, psychology, and neuroergonomics to safety in order to better understand human performance in real-life situations.
Dr. Behrend earned her B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Bremen in Germany. After two M.Sc. in Cognitive Neuroscience (Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris) and in Psychology (Paris Descartes University), she obtained her PhD from Sorbonne University.
Deborah Vintner
Flight Safety Director, Safety Management System - ATR
Déborah Vintner has 25 years’ experience in aviation manufacturing industry.
After a graduation as Aeronautical Engineer in 1996, Déborah has first worked on the Jetstream program and then joined ATR where she occupied several positions in Customer Support from Spares to Commercial.
In her previous position she was in charge of Services Administration and in particular of maintenance PBH program & warranty administration.
She joined the Flight Safety Department in 2015, and is in charge of Safety Management System at ATR corporate level.
Isabel-Clara Barbero
Aviation Policy Officer - European Commission
Isabel Clara (Clarisa) Barbero currently works as an aviation policy officer at the European Commission. She is responsible for the aspects related to the occurrence reporting, the investigation of aviation accidents and she is also the point of contact for some of the countries on the EU safety list.
Clarisa has a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. She began her career at Aerospatiale, Airbus and British Aerospace as an aeronautical structural engineer and worked at C.A.S.A. (now Airbus Defence and Space) for over 15 years. She held different positions, from team leader of the Eurofighter and transport aircraft logistics to aircraft marketing manager in Europe.
In 2005, Clarisa became an official of the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority and worked on Air Traffic Management (ATM) safety aspects, in particular on the Single European Sky project. In 2009, she decided to continue her career at EUROCONTROL and some years later, she moved to EASA as ATM standardisation team leader. She also worked for the Spanish Safety Accident Investigation Authority (CIAIAC).
In 2016, Clarisa joined the European Commission Aviation Safety Unit; she loves her job and continues to be passionate about aviation.
Yngvi Rafn Yngvason
Domain Safety Risk Manager - EASA
His dream was to become a pilot, and he received his solo licence at 16 and PPL 18 years old.
In 2005, Yngvi set up the occurrence reporting system at the Icelandic CAA and managed that system and the associated analysis tasks for seven years.
While adding a masters degree in project management with his work at the authority, Yngvi received a position as a safety analyst at EASA in 2012.
He is currently a Domain Safety Risk Manager for General Aviation, Sailplanes and Balloons.
He works as well partly with the Safety Promotion team on video projects and managed projects with the Commission on the implementation of the European Risk Classification Scheme.
Geert Kinders
Safety Data Management Section Manager - EASA
Geert is a seasoned professional with degrees in Information Technology and Maths. After serving in multiple larger multinational private companies, where he assumed functions up to and including CIO and ExCom board member, he joined EASA in 2011 where he was first tasked with the re-organsiation of the Information Services department.
As part of an EASA internal re-alignment, Geert joined the newly created Strategy & Safety Management directorate in 2015, where he since then heads the agency’s Safety Data Management section, which is at the forefront of collecting Safety Reports and associated intelligence to build EASAs knowledge database.
These databases are instrumental for core processes such as Continued Airworthiness, Standardisation, Safety Risk Management and data driven Analytics.
In view of his background and experience, Geert is acting as Business Lead in several IT driven digitalisation projects around Safety Data, such as the SDM system (formally known as IORS), ECCAIRS2 (replacing the previous JRC system) and as IT lead in the Agency’s Big Data project Data4Safety (D4S)
Janusz Strzelczyk
Safety Data Technical Assistant - EASA
Graduate of Aviation Technical High School in Wrocław and National Defence University in Warsaw.
He started his professional career in 2006 as an assistant in State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation. In 2007 employed by Civil Aviation Authority of Poland, where started to work with ECCAIRS database. In 2015 moved to Polish Air Navigation Service Agency, where was responsible for preparation and coordination of safety assessment of changes in ATM systems.
Since 2016 at EASA, where he is working again with ECCAIRS, in Safety Data Management section, dealing with occurrence reports.
Privately PPL, SPL and TMG pilot. He was involved in safety management of few local air shows in Poland.
